We’ve been in and out of the studio all summer in Tennessee with our good friend Mark Lee Townsend working on our next release with Gotee Records. This project is a much anticipated follow up to “We’re All Going Somewhere”, and it’s a full length record, our first full length release in three years. That is too long, is it not!?

I like the songs that we have on this project, and I think you’re going to like them to. We’ve been talking about how excited we are to play this record live, because we know how much you guys are going to enjoy singing along. There are some pretty radical sounds showing up for a few seconds on some of the songs including a slide guitar, a vibra-slap, a horn section, and an appearance by Tim Skipper from House of Heroes. Even the artwork itself blew me away, our very own Brad Foster painted an incredible piece that captures the concept of this project. I can’t wait for you to hear and see everything for the first time.

We’ll be posting more info on release dates, the record title, and pre-order info soon, but for now you’ll have to trust us when we say it’s worth the wait.

Let’s hang out at a show. We’re hitting the road starting Thursday with Everyday Sunday and Kiros and we’re playing some great festivals and some of our favorite cities. Right after this tour with Everyday Sunday we’re headed back up the west coast with two fantastic bands, we’ll be able to announce that tour soon!

Hopefully you’ve taken some time to explore our new website. The chords and lyrics are up for some of our tunes, and if you learn them, you should post a youtube video of your cover. There is also a section on our site here about our relationship with Compassion International. This fall at our table we have a new program we’re supporting through Compassion called Give12. It’s only $12 a month and we’re challenging our fan base to step up and help out these kids. Check out this video for more info.

One more thing… we’re throwing around some ideas for a new cover this fall, what would like to hear? Just leave your vote in the comments:

1. “All These Things That I’ve Done” by The Killers
2. “Take Me Out” by Franz Ferdinand
3. “1901″ by Phoenix
4. “Starlight” by Muse
5. “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes
6. Just play another Abandon Kansas song!
